Illegal Immigration
Illegal immigration is a national problem
that must be addressed by the federal
government. However, state government can
ensure that we do not reward illegal
behavior.
|

ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Prohibit state funds for employers of
illegal immigrants (2007 Senate Bill 404):
Create disincentives for companies that
knowingly hire illegal immigrants by
withholding state grants and contracts.
Harsdorf voted for this legislation as it
passed the State Senate.
Proof of citizenship for government
benefits (2005 Senate Bill 567): Public
assistance programs should only be provided
to U.S. citizens. This legislation sought to
require proof of citizenship for benefit
through Wisconsin Works and Medical
Assistance.
ACTION
Law and order
• Eliminate “Sanctuary Cities”: Prohibit
local governments from banning inquiries
into an individual’s legal status as a means
to circumvent immigration laws.
• Make English the official state language
